The Customer App: What Your Cleaning Clients See and Do
Every maid service gets the same few client questions over and over. What time are you coming? Can I add the inside of the fridge next time? How much do I owe? Can I use a different card? Each one is a text or a call, and each one interrupts somebody. The customer app answers most of them before they are asked.
The Other Side of the Team's Day
The Team App: What Your Cleaners See on Their Phones covered the team's view. This guide covers what the client sees at the same time, from their own phone.
In MaidBossPro, clients get their own app. It is separate from the team app, and it only shows the client their own homes, visits and invoices.
The Live Route Map
On cleaning day, clients can see today's route on a live map with their place in line: “You're stop 12 of 20 — the crew is 5 stops away.” They do not see other clients' addresses or names, just where they are in the day and how close the team is getting.
That one screen cuts a lot of “are you still coming?” texts. It also helps the cleaning go well. A client who can see the team is two stops away has time to put the dog in the yard, turn off the alarm or move the car out of the driveway.
Alerts the Client Chooses
Clients pick which alerts they want:
- The night before, as a reminder that tomorrow is cleaning day.
- When they're next, so they know the team is on the way.
- When the team arrives.
Some clients want all three. Some only want the night-before reminder. Letting them choose means nobody gets messages they find annoying, and the ones who want to know exactly when the team arrives can.
Requesting Service and Signing Up
Clients can request service from the app, such as an extra clean before a party or a deep clean before the holidays. Requests come to the office, where you schedule them.
They can also sign up for services and see your pricing. A client on every-two-weeks maintenance who wants to add a seasonal deep clean, or a client who wants to add regular linens, can do that from the app instead of waiting for a call back.
Cards, Invoices and Payment
Billing is the part of the customer app that saves the most office time:
- Update their card. When a card expires or a client wants to switch, they update it themselves.
- See invoices. Every invoice with its line items, so the client can see what they paid for.
- Pay online. Clients who do not keep a card on file can pay right from the invoice.
A lot of past-due invoices are not about money. They are about a card that expired. When clients can fix that themselves, fewer invoices sit unpaid. The billing side is covered in Invoicing and Card on File: Getting Paid for Every Cleaning.
Before and After Photos
If you turn it on, clients can see before and after photos on their past visits. Photos the team took in the team app show up with the visit. This is the owner's choice. Some companies love showing clients the difference, especially on deep cleans and move-outs. Others prefer to keep photos for the office only.
Ratings and Referrals
Clients can rate a visit and refer friends from the app. Ratings give you a quick read on how each cleaning went, and a low one is a reason to call that client before a small problem becomes a cancellation. Referrals are how most maid services grow, and putting the option right in the app makes it easy for a happy client to pass your name along.
Why It Matters for a Small Company
For an owner who still cleans a few days a week, every phone call in the middle of a job is a problem. The customer app takes the most common questions off the phone: when, how much, which card, what was done. Two-way texting from the office handles everything else, and replies go to one place instead of the owner's personal phone.
It also makes a small company look organized. A client who gets a night-before text, sees the team on a map and pays from a clean invoice has a different impression than one who gets a text from a personal number saying “running late.”
Getting Clients Onto It
The easiest time to introduce the customer app is when a client starts. Mention it in the welcome message, show them where to choose alerts, and suggest they put a card on file. Existing clients can be introduced with a short text from the office. Once they see the live map on their next cleaning day, most of them keep using it.
